Teodoro Lamond: I see this more as a place where you go with a group of friends to play and hang out. Not so much a place where you go to play games with random strangers. Although there could be nights with "free play" where you can meet other people that like the same games or what not.
Cassidy Pangrazio: I think this is a great idea and I'm a little jealous that I didn't think of it myself, however I wouldn't be starting my own business right now anyway. I say go for it! I think people are trying to get back into good clean fun. If it were me doing this cafe, I'd include a place that they could be served a variety of coffees, teas, juices, simple pre-made sandwiches and danishes (like Starbucks) as well. That way they're liable to stay if they get hungry/thirsty.
Loise Mausser: In my area at least, that niche is filled by game stores. The stores encourage people to play games in them, and have table space & house games set aside for just that purpose. They ! regularly hold tournaments for the more popular games. It's good for business, since people often discover new games that they like and can buy them right there in the store.A board game cafe would cater to a slightly different market, but I suspect the game store business model works better. There's a more obvious way to make money off the gamers, and you don't get so much food and drink spilled over the games. Hardcore gamers are apt to sit around gaming all day without buying much of anything from the cafe anyway....Show more
Dorinda Metzer: They are boring for the most part, I don't know that I would ever want to go to one.
Toshia Metzker: The issue I see here is trying to get strangers to play a game together. This is easier online sites since there's the level of anonymity between the players. You might get some people to get into this... but I think the biggest issue is try to get past people's xenophobia that's been beaten into people as kids ("Don't Ta! lk to Strangers, kids!").
Travis Sherrock: The majority ! of American kids have the attention span of a flea, myself not being one of them. They need explosions and high time graphics to keep their interest. A hour long board game is not in their fancy. Personally, I love it because I never can play board games with my nit wit family.
Sibyl Siwik: I believe it is because we are consumed by technology. Every day, there's a new computer game or a new video game, whereas once every few months, there will be a new board game. I believe this combined with the fact that we are taught to be afraid of strangers when we are young is the reason why board game cafes haven't caught on in the U.S.
Rosio Pasculli: Board games are soo 10 years ago.
