Expiration date vs Sell by date?

Norma Marsalis: Because we have become such a politically correct society, anything the government says we do. Technically most food or drinks are good a few days or some cases, a week after expiration date. They are just covering their butts. You won't die.

Kiersten Clayburn: The sell by date is the d! ate the shop has to sell them by.The expiration date can be ignored most of the time as they are just dates plucked out of the air by the manufacturer to keep track of their stock.You don't need dates on foods with a little of common sense as there are few that matter and you can tell, like the smell of sour milk or fruits and vegetables that don't look very nice anymore...Show more

Lou Rought: "Expiration date" is found on medicines and indicates the date after it can no longer be expected to act as prescribed."Best by" just means a food will taste "best by..."

After that date, the food starts losing it`s nutritional value and freshness, although it is still good to eat.Expiration date means do not eat the food after that date.There are ways to extend the best before dates.
