Lon Pennington: Hi! I recently went on a flight with my 12 month old! I was incredibly nervous over how he would do, he's walking, and very into exploring. So I thought the 12 hour flight we were going on would be horrible! But he was awesome! Here are some things that we did:1) Take a few small toys that he hasn't seen in awhile! He'll be so excited to play with them again! 2) Take a few books that you can read to him on the flight. They love this!3) Snacks! My boy loves goldfish! And these helped when he got a little cranky.4) Walk him up and down the isles when the carts aren't coming through. He'll love seeing all the peopleHe'll probably fall asleep on take off, mine did. And I had him in my lap for 12 hours! He did fine. Just expect him to get a little fussy, they all do. But the flight staff and the other passengers are generally understanding. We had no problems! Good Luck!...Show more

Filiberto Ranalli: Try keeping him up all night so he has no option but to pass out on the flight.
Porfirio Cahall: I took my 18month daughter on a long haul flight by myself and it was tiring, however we made it. here are some things that helped:-1) we were given a spot where we had extra leg room so she could sit on the floor and play.2) we were fast tracked through queues so we didnt have to wait3) taking little walks up and down the plane when we could.4) i took a small bag with lots of small things and the flight provided and small bag of crayons. take toys he hasnt seen before and are new and interesting. bubbles are great. we played puppets with the flight socks etc take some snacks for eating! and of course some of the flight might include a sleep.it is ! hard work, and people around you will have to be patient and tollerant. remember, if they wanted an uninterupted flight, they should have booked 1st class. you are entitled to fly and they have to suck it up while you do your best with your baby. if your lucky you might get to sit next to someone who doesnt mind children and are willing to help entertain your baby for a short while. hostesses are pretty good also. if there is a free seat on the plane you can often move after take off so you get more room, or maybe a window seat might suit you.good luck. you will survive and hopefully there is someone at the other end of the flight who can let you rest and recouperate and look after your son for a while....Show more
Von Houskeeper: Does your son have any special toys, any games he loves to play? Firstly, try and ensure your son is dressed comfortably - it sounds silly, but if he's uncomfortable/too hot/too cold then he'll be that way for the whole journey and he'll no ! doubt make sure you know how uncomfortable he is through crying! Take his favourite toys, and entertain him that way. When he starts getting upset, try using the toys then, to distract him. He is most probably going to get a bit distressed on the flight, but that's normal. One thought - perhaps you could try and keep him awake for a while before the plane journey? If he gets bored on the plane he's no doubt going to begin feeling sleepy and then might end up falling to sleep for the journey!Hope it goes ok!...Show more
