Mack Ukich: Firstly for a 'Home Theatre' you need a 'Home Theatre room', if it's just your living roomedroom then it's just 'Surround Sound' (The difference is the ROOM is designed with the sound in mind)These 'home theatre in a box' are complete and utter rubbish and ruining the 'name' Home Theatre (and the sound!).Point one: You CANNOT get decent sound from plastic boxes, nor from speaker cones made of paper! (Sounds like Bose to me lol See: http://intellexual.net/bose.html) Home theatre requires what you may describe as 'Hi-Fi' quality speakers and equipment.Netflix. Does netflix transmit in surround sound, Dolby Digital for instance? No. So it is worthless connecting it to a Home theatre system! (Games are cool though ;-)....)Right, Home Theatre: You need a Digital Surround Sound source, be it DVD & Player (Must support digital out), Blu-Ray, Your games console (Only when playing a disc WITH digital sound though) or any other source I have forgottenot mentioned. This ! digital signal needs to be fed to an AV Surround sound ampeceiver Like these (I'm going to use a site that I buy from for examples): http://www.richersounds.com/products/home-cinema/h...Then a minimum of 6 speakers (5.1) but can go higher (7.1, 9.1........).You need: A centre (Mainly dialogue) http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separat...A Main leftight (you may want to use these for musicgames as well remember): http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separat... (GOOD ones will be able to produce plenty of bass negating the need for a 'sub' unless you really want that 'umph, glass rattling factor (Home theatre rooms do not have glass in them by the way)Now add a some surrounds, book shelf speakers make ideal surrounds like these: http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separat... (I wish they paid me for these links lol)2 minimum but 4 is standard these days.Note you could use a good set of bookshelf's as your main left right and couple with a 'subwoofer!Sub ! if you want one:http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-sep! arat...buy a cheap one and all it does is rattle and distort some 'sound', be warned. Now link all this up with QUALITY speaker cable and interconnects (Important (really))It helps to try and get ALL the speakers with the same specifications, saves trying to balance them all in (and that changes with sound levels) True Home Theatres will often use 'THX' certified speakers, check out their prices!)Calibrate the amp (volumes must be set exactly for correct reproduction), connect your source to the amp and CALIBRATED screen and off you go, sounds terrific.Anything other than this you are wasting your time! Connect a better pair of speakers to your TV and just enjoy the stereo sound track. (Which with GOOD speakers makes heaps of difference) and leave the 'Home Theatre' to the audiophiles where it belongs (It's rich man's toys)...Show more
Queenie Ruthers: I hate Amazon because they often don't put publish much in the way of technical specs on their products. That said, thi! s appears to be a set of amplified computer speakers, not a home theater system. It would not be a good choice for use with your TV.
William Vickerman: Okay now that a lot of stuff is cleared up for me; thank you very much Siaynoq. I have a few more questions that came from the answers. So to be more specific, I'm looking to hook the speakers up in my room, and mostly just for my Xbox. So I suppose I don't really care about getting the true definition of surround sound so much as just getting some better speakers that will have some bass and get louder for games like Call Of Duty. So would the speakers I linked to in my previous post work for this? And if so, if I was only hooking them up to my Xbox would I need to buy anything besides the speakers? Also one last question, could I alternate them pretty easily between my Xbox and my computer like say if I wanted to play some music? Thank you very much for any help, and I apologize if this comes off as a solid block or! gibberish. I didn't have much time to type it since I was at school an! d I also don't know a whole lot of what I'm talking about or even how to ask the questions I do ha...Show more
