Myesha Zerbe: Look into K12. It is an online school, that lets you work from home, but you still have teachers that you work with. It is a charter school, so it is free and available in most states. They will have a program for you that takes into account that you are gifted and you will still graduate from a high school. My daughters attend school here and love it.
Lucrecia Laurito: Hi,Study at school would better than study at home.Because in school you would have many classmates and communicate with them . To have more friends is vital for your growing up and education.I am learning Chinese Mandarin at Mandarin Garden. I think learning at this school really enrich my life....Show more
Herma Ellebrecht: You will probably have to ask at the high school that you attended, if you can take a class or two while you are homeschooled. Are you planning on getting a High School diploma from them, somewhere else or are you going to take the G.E.D.? I am unsure i! f your high school would give you a diploma, since you are homeschooled but I do not know the laws in New York. You will have to ask at the high school if getting your diploma from them would be an option. This is a link for the Home School Legal Defense Association, they have information on all the homeschool laws for all the states. http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=NYI just looked for the availability of k12 in New York, and the website said, Public School Options in New York There are currently no public schools using the full K¹² program in this state. But new schools are always being added! Sign up to receive notification when a full-time public program using the K¹² curriculum becomes available in your area. For additional school options view all K¹² school options in New York Basically that means it won't be free. So I clicked the all K¹² school options in New York link. http://www.k12.com/participating-schools/new-york/... There ar! e three links: George Washington University Online High School! , K¹² International Academy, and The Keystone School. I am also going to provide you with two more links for online/correspondence high schools. Indiana University High School http://iuhighschool.iu.edu/index.shtml and Independent Study High School which is affiliated with The University of Nebraska-Lincoln http://highschool.unl.edu/ You do not need to live in either state to take classes from them. All of these options will cost you money, but you should be able to receive a high school diploma from them, if you take enough classes through them. Even if you choose not to study through any of these schools, they can still be a great source of information. Look at their options of classes to take. See what classes you need. Buy the books used online, and teach yourself. If you get stuck on something like Science, there is always the Kahn Academy. They have videos you can watch on their website or on YouTube to help you. They are completely free. http:! //www.khanacademy.org/ Their list of videos is really long so keep scrolling. Iâm going to suggest that you make a schedule. It needs to be realistic and flexible. You can actually do anything you want with it. As you spend more time homeschooling you will be able to figure out what kind of schedule works best for you. Some days you may become so involved studying History that before you know it the whole day has passed by. Thatâs okay. Youâll just have to spend more time another day on Math and English. You may want to plan hour long classes, with 10 minute breaks in between, or 20 minute classes with 5 minute breaks and then back to the same subject for 20 minutes with another 5 minute break. Your schedule does not need to be down to the exact minute though, or you can even set a timer if that makes you more comfortable. You can study all day Monday on History, all day Tuesday on Science and all day Wednesday on Math. Itâs up to you. Whatever helps! you learn best. Homeschooling gives you such freedom, take advantage ! of that.Edit: One more thing, please change your screen name to something other than your full name. Just your first name, and last initial is good. : ) The whole world doesnât need to know who asked this question. Click My Activity. Under your name click Edit My Preferences. Then click Change Name. A new window will pop up. Erase your last name at the very least, but leave the initial. Then click save name....Show more
