Ronnie Barcus: The 5-point harness has one drawback. It doesn't secure your head. So expect a violent forward head movement in a head-on collision. You might not strike the steering wheel, but you'll still feel neck pain.
Madge Voice: i dont know why you would need airbags , Nascar doesnt use them they use the harness alone an at alot faster speeds that the average street Demon...
Laveta Fathy: The biggest problem with a 5-point safety belt is getting people to wear them. It's hard enough to get people to wear a 3-point one, and the 5-point safety belts are much more intrusive and take more effort to put on.Currently, manufacturers are trying to improve their vehicles' safety cage and do better in side impacts and rollovers. Traditionally, only the expensive European makes (Volvo, Mercedes, Saab, BMW, Audi, etc) have done well in that respect. Today, even affordable cars like the Ford Focus, Toyota Camry or Chrysler Town & Country are doing very well in thi! s regard.The future of car safety is reducing accidents by using advanced preventative technology. Donte Liversedge: No you still need airbags, if the car was originally equipped with them to be legal.
Sol Allphin: Ever wear a 5 point? I have them in my offroad buggy, they hurt when you wreck, and provide zero neck support. They are much safer than a regular seatbelt, but in a hard head on collision you would get hurt I think. They are, however, excellent in rollovers.
