Building new has an advantage of starting with a "blank slate" and doing everything exactly the way you like. BUT ... te challenge of remodeling an existing home is a lot of fun. I have remolded three homes and each ended up different than I planned, but very nice to live in. The one I currently live in is almost 100 years old and has the charm of being old but has been updated with modern systems (electric, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, etc.) so it is comfortable to live in. Neither of these has any great advantage or disadvantage price wise since you can put into it whatever you want, such as choosing between plastic laminate or granite counter-tops, and these choices will make a big difference in the final cost....Show more

You are wearing out the fibers in the fabric so that they have fuzzies and then the water absorbs them and knots them and the dryer puts them into balls as it flops the clothes around. Check your clothes for wear and tear before you put it into the water and if they need attention fix them then first. Also wash those items on a more delicate cycle. That will help too.

Soap neutralizes the smell of smoke. There is also a product called "Smells BeGone" that removes the smell of cigarette smoke. Smells BeGone has no smell of its own. It doesn't just mask odors, like most air fresheners and perfumes do...Smells BeGone actually gets rid of the smells. You can spray Smells BeGone on your clothes and hair anytime you leave the house. Everyone has a different view on which one is the best, works the best, smells the best, etc. So here are a few pointers:-You can't go wrong with Gain for its strong scent. A little perfumy, but it cleans fairly well.-Purex Natural Elements is a bargain detergent. It only cleans average, but it has a much more natural scent.-Era liquid is what I use. In my opinion in cleans the best and smells very good, but it doesn't last quite as long.-Surf powder sparkling ocean is known for long-lasting freshness, but powder can be messy to use-I use Bounce original dryers s! heets-Gain dryer sheets work well but my fiancé is allergic :! /The thing is that if you live in a house with smokers, they will pick up odors quickly, so it will be hard to keep them fresh. I like Gain, but its freshness doesn't last. Surf is one of the more expensive detergents out there. Cornelius Thornborrow: I'd wet a paper towel in rubbing alcohol, wring it out and wipe down the exterior of your toy with the cloth. I would then repeatedly wipe down the toy with a towel wet with plain water to rinse. That should kill any germs. If the toy still smells like alcohol, it wasn't rinsed enough. Hope this helps!

Dedra Furguson: Soap and water works rather well. That's all that should be needed to clean it. Next time just use a condom over it and you don't have to worry about cleaning. You might want to use an anti-bacterial soap on it because if your wife uses it and it's go feces on it then it cna give her a nasty infection. -Connor
