Lonnie Jehle: This is a tricky question since the above criteria will never be met in real life. Building new has an advantage of starting with a "blank slate" and doing everything exactly the way you like. BUT ... te challenge of remodeling an existing home is a lot of fun. I have remolded three homes and each ended up different than I planned, but very nice to live in. The one I currently live in is almost 100 years old and has the charm of being old but has been updated with modern systems (electric, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, etc.) so it is comfortable to live in. Neither of these has any great advantage or disadvantage price wise since you can put into it whatever you want, such as choosing between plastic laminate or granite counter-tops, and these choices will make a big difference in the final cost....Show more
Rosann Mccomb: If you get it remodeled at least you will have brand new equipment all throughout your house, with more state of the art appl! iances too. Not sure where you are located, but I am from California, and I recently did my whole kitchen and had two room additions done through Eurodesigncabinet.com. If you decide to remodel, I would highly recommend them. I hired them after seeing how great my brothers home looked after. Good Luck!!
