Jefferson Sarson: That is a difficult question to answer because the theaters in new york (tip: the "re" spelling refers to the craft, the "er" spelling refers to the building) are established houses for a production. What that means is that one season both a play and a musical could be housed in the same location. Example, in 2009, "33 Variations" played at The Eugene O'Neill. Later that same year, Fela! played. Essentially, the theatre is a venue for a production to be housed in. There aren't really any famous theaters in NY that focus purely on straight plays.
