What are famous theatres in new york?

Jefferson Sarson: That is a difficult question to answer because the theaters in new york (tip: the "re" spelling refers to the craft, the "er" spelling refers to the building) are established houses for a production. What that means is that one season both a play and a musical could be housed in the same location. Example, in 2009, "33 Variations" played at The Eugene O'Neill. Later that same year, Fela! played. Essentially, the theatre is a venue for a production to be housed in. There aren't really any famous theaters in NY that focus purely on straight plays. Not even the Soho Rep or Playwrights Horizons focus purely on straight plays....Show more
